Early Elementary Activity

Using this map template (http://geography.about.com/library/blank/blxchina.htm), students will be filling in places, cities, monuments, and so forth using the information found within the wiki and linked websites. Students will be encouraged to use words, draw pictures, and use texture to make their map as tactile as possible.

Late Elementary Activity

Using this article as a starting point (http://chineseculture.about.com/od/thechineselanguage/a/Introduction-To-Education-In-China.htm), students will compare and contrast education in China with that of the United States. After reading and mapping out their ideas, students will be asked to create a chart of their own. In doing so, students will not only increase their knowledge of Chinese culture and education, but will have a more concrete understanding through the comparison with the United States and seeing it in comparison with their own personal life.

Fine Arts Activity

Great Wall of Friendship: Students will be introduced to the Great Wall of China before completing this activity. Students will draw and write about a best friend or family member on cards. They will then cut out the cards and wrap a mini cereal box in colored paper (or paint the box). They will then stick the cards to the box and the boxes will be used to build a "Great Wall of Friendship". (Great Wall of Friendship, activityvillage.co.uk, 2011)
